flower pot invitations

It's been a snowy and cold couple of months here in New England (surprise, surprise!).  

So I was thrilled to be able to think spring while making these invites for a little cutie's 1st birthday.

 This Silhouette cut file from Lori Whitlock made quick work of all the cutting.

Most of the papers are from the DCWV Kidlet line

2 pages from fall

Here are two layouts I've managed to squeeze in this summer. I don't know why I think that I'll get more accomplished in the summer than during the school year, but somehow I always get this idea into my head.

I used a bunch of *old* supplies on the above page; I don't even know most of the manufacturers. The oak leaf is an iron-on that I no doubt bought on clearance somewhere. Happy to say it has now found a home on a page!

No journaling on these yet. I'm trying to convince my husband to write his own journaling for the "32" page--don't think I'm going to have much luck {sigh}.

Day 20: barefoot

I'm still very behind, but not giving up. Here is Day 20's layout, which also doubles as my entry for The Spark, a challenge blog for any medium. Do check it out if you need a creative kick in the pants (it happens to the best of us!)

The background for this layout was created with Heidi Swapp's Mega Masks {brackets} and acrylic paint. The process for the masks is quite easy and yields great results. The self-adhesive masks lay onto your cardstock and then you paint (or chalk, trace, spritz, etc) the area. I love seeing the results when you peel back the mask. They are made from pretty thick vinyl and are reusable.

The vine was fussy-cut from a sheet from The Stack 6 by DCWV. I then penned in the dotted stem. The letter stickers are from American Crafts. I love the font and the colors. A sprinkling of other embellishments (KI Memories and Colorbok) and the page came together. I wish they were all this easy. And it's funny how usually those easy to make pages are the ones you end up loving the most.

Day 1: 8 mos.

Today is my Day 1 of the 37 day challenge (you can check it out here). I decided to dig back a bit in my photo stash. This one's of my middle son (he'll be turning 6 next month). Every month for the first year of all of my boys' lives, I took a photo of them in the rocking chair (I rocked all three in this blue gingham glider) with their Teddy Bears. The journaling for each of these monthly photos is simply a listing of the dates and milestones of the month.


The upside to being so far behind on many photos: you can marry older photos with fresh, trendy papers like these new ones from DCWV: The Stack 6. Love these little critters and trees. I used this layout from Stephanie Howell as "sketch inspiration" for my page. It was a perfect fit to try out the new Heidi Swapp masks that arrived today.
